NaBloPoMo #22 :: T-Day

I am tired.

I am full (of turkey).

The Yam Praline Casserole was a hit with the adults.

The fruit salad was a hit with the kids.

I am now the the proud owner of a 20 pound turkey carcass and leftovers.

I can take a turkey sandwich for lunch tomorrow

I will not have to cook tomorrow night

AND My Pilgrim Name is:

Esther Bratteridge

Fitting, eh?  I'm sure those in the know will not disagree. I don't.  ;)

Good times....

NaBloPoMo #21 :: The First Five

Thksgvng2007 Because I did a Domestic Goddess Extreme day, don't expect much.

Today my fat, crippled ass made 1 Yam Praline Casserole  from one of the Mutant Yams (low-carb), 1 Pumpkin Pie (low-carb), 1 batch of Stuffing (low-carb), 1 large bowl of fruit salad (low-carb friendly), 2 dozen Low-Carb Ginger Snaps (though they aren't very snappy). The photo proves it. Get over the dirty stove.  That's what happens when you cook and bake all day.   Heh...

And because I am such a big ol' copycat and stuff, I am snarfing this way cool thingy from Eden who snarfed it from Samantha: “By the end of the calendar year, I will send a tangible, physical gift to each of the first five people to comment here. The catch? Each person must make the same offer on her/his blog.” Evidently, Ruthie, Erin & and Jen all saw it too and decided to play.  I don't know them (yet) but I've been reading Eden for a few years now so I am sure they are terrific girlies.

So, y'all... the first 5  to comment here will get some kind of handmade thingamajig from me. Could be one of my soldered glass pendants, could be a small assemblage, could be a collage. Who knows?

Oh and if you want to exchange Solstice/Yule, Christmas/Xmas, Channukah, etc, etc, etc, etc, toss me an e-mail with the pertinent info and I will do the same. Have a nice Turkey Day tomorrow. Eat way too much. Heh...

NaBloPoMo #21 :: Mutant Yams

I know it's Wordless Wednesday but I could not resist adding words to this week' s entry!

While shopping for ingredients for the dishes I will be bringing to the Family Feast tomorrow, I decided to make a Yam/Sweet Potato Casserole. I could only find these:

These suckers weigh 4 pounds a piece and why I bought TWO of the damn things, I'll never know; I only need 3 pounds for the casserole!

I just had to share this.. it made me laugh AND snort...

NaBloPoMo #16 :: The Feast of the Gobbler

Turkey Day is 6 days away. I had a really  deep and thoughtful post ready to be written. Apparently all that thinking didn't agree with me because I am now the not-so-proud owner of a migraine headache. Or maybe my period caused the fucking thing. I only know, I am OVER having a migraine headache.

In lieu of the truly wise, insightful and fabulous post I had planned for your reading enjoyment,   I offer this new Turkey recipe with you.  If you decide to use it, let me know how it works!
